Let's try a new game. The concept behind this is that I'll name some car components and you have to think of cars that you'd build using them. Tell us the rough dimensions of the car you'd build, the segment you'd place it in, body style, maybe a target market, suspension setup, drivetrain or whatever else you feel like should be included. Try to keep your ideas at least remotely sellable.

Car 1:

For car 1 I'll give you a compact, petrol powered, watercooled, 1 litre 4 cylinder boxer with a turbocharger producing 100 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque. You're limited to a 4wd/awd rear engined configuration.

Car 2:

You get a naturally aspirated petrol 2 litre V8 with VVT and VVL that revs to 8200 rpm and produces 220hp@8k and about 200 Nm of torque. The engine is sporty but smooth throughout the rev range but loves having the nuts revved off it. You're not allowed to have it transversely mounted at the front of a car.

So, what cars would you build using components provided?

I know you want us to describe things like dimensions and such, but as I have a headache I'll just skip to the end. :)

Car 1: Easy pickings!

Basically an AWD version of the new smart forfour.

Car 2:

Revive the dead smart formore MPV.

I'd be a bit of a waste to put a sporty, revvy engine into an MPV.

Engine 2: I would modernize the design of the SVX, engine in front, transmission in the back sending power to all four wheels. Six speed manual, lose the aircraft-style windows. Would have to be a lot lighter given the BHP, so alumimum panels and carbon fiber roof. Lose a lot of heavy electrical stuff (power seats, sunroof, similar).

Perhaps, but I adore the idea of a sporty MPV. :)

1 - Fiat 126 with the 4x4 bits from a Mk1 Panda 4x4.

2 - Should be just the right shape to fit under the bonnet of a Reliant Kitten.

Probably needs some suspension, brakes, etc as well, since it'll have ~450 bhp/ton.
